As per media reports daily commercial flights between newly-opened Jaffna International Airport and Chennai and Trichy airports in India commences today operated by an Indian airline. The Alliance-Air, a sister subsidy of Air India wishes to operate seven flights to the Jaffna International Airport and returns per week.
In addition, a locally-owned airline has also scheduled flights three times a week from Jaffna to airports located in South India. The Palaly Airport, upgraded as Sri Lanka’s third international airport, was opened in October this year by President with the participation of Prime Minister at a time the opponents of the government in the country and overseas are blowing hot air that it has done nothing for the Tamils living in North Province the previous war zone.
