COVID-19, the corona virus that originated in Wuhan, China; has been in the news for the last few months, brought the entire world to a halt in the last few weeks. With over 200,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and over 8000 deaths across almost 154 countries, it came as no surprise when earlier the World Health Organization declared the virus a “pandemic”.
The exact source of the current outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is not known; the Corona viruses are a large family of viruses. Some cause illness in people and others cause illness in certain types of animals; known to infect animals. It is suspected that it originated from human going against nature; has infected people, considered rare till this man made “‘pandemic”.
Thus despite the biological nature of this virus, much of the crises today due to COVID-19 revolve around human behaviour and economics. Since almost all of these crises have been caused due to panic fueled by misinformation and poor comprehension, Thus it will take some time for nations to evaluate the micro and macroeconomics behind some of COVID-19’s global economic implications and the impact on Sri Lanka.

All credit to the Sri Lankan authorities for curbing the spread of COVID-19, but the battle is far from over. At present having sealed the airports, authorities are searching many who returned from overseas failing to get them cleared by the health authorities. Sooner its done the best for the whole nation; for it is another form of security breach that needs to be put right. The success of it and how soon normalcy return all depends on how these people cooperate with the authorities.
