COVID-19 has made us realise that everything around us is temporary!

In the past few weeks coronaviruses has proved that everything around us is so temporary; as it did for most of us during the civil war years. Whereas this time round the things our lives revolved around such as work, gym, malls, movies, social activities have all gone for a toss, as we are learning once again to live without out them. It has taught us that in the end, it’s your own home and family that keeps you safe.

Bitter Truth is the COVID19 virus has taught us in a very short time a simple fact of life that everything around us is so temporary! For all over the world people are slowing down and reflecting on what has happened around them in the past few months!

Its been a rough few weeks for Australians and months worldwide. The feeling of uncertainty, fear and anxiety on what’s next, how do we protect our family and friends, when will this end, where can or can’t go, fear on shortage of essentials, how do we answer our children’s questions on a pandemic etc what if one of us get sick, do we work from home or not..the list goes on…If you ask me the emotions are equivalent or worse to what my family went through the civil war between 1990 to 2009 as you don’t even know if you are already a carrier of covid-19, as some may just pass through it like a normal cold/flu apparently.
At this difficult times, we are blessed if we live around a well knitted community, extended family and friends who you can count on for physical and emotional support at any given time.
Yes social distancing is the one and only best solution (together with self hygiene). Staying home is the wisest.
However this is easily said than done. Especially if you live alone. Self isolation as well, after a couple of days, has a huge impact on a person’s mental health.
The main reason for my post is, friends, please reach out and be in touch with your friends or collegues especially who may be a new migrant, who may not have a wider support system, does not have family around or just does need someone to talk to plan their weeks/months ahead. This week at work has been an emotional week whilst planning for work from home from next week, to see few members impacted for the above reasons including travel bans.
Sometimes we take our family and community support for granted and these are the times you realise the value of it.
So let’s look after each other. Also let’s share true facts, not criticise others of their actions without understanding thier situation and yes let’s pray and hope their is light at end of this tunnel in the near future.
