The concept behind Buddhist Dharma is anything that upholds or sustains a positive order and an individual, a family, a community, a nation and the universe all help uphold order.
All creations except humans obeys Dharma. The plants consumes carbon dioxide and gives oxygen as it is their Dharna, while a cow would eat all that we don’t want and gives us milk. Where as humans don’t know what is their Dharma and end up messing everything in their life.
Only reason humans go through untold misery in life is because they don’t know what is Dharma! The reason creator gave the highest faculty to human is for ‘Awakening’ and yet, they do all nonsense except the very purpose they are here, is the reason for all chaos.
The term ‘Dharma’ is obeying the very intent of the creation, as the water flows from the mountains uses gravity to reach its abode which is the ocean. Similarly, the Dharma of water ‘flows from high level to low level’ and it is ‘Adharma’ if water flows from low level to high level.
Sri Lankan Buddhist rulers should therefore follow Dharma, as preached by Lord Buddha, to have an all inclusive rule for unity to enable all communities to join in to bring the country back to prosperity!
