Garment workers crisis brews in Sri Lanka!

Sri Lanka’s economic crisis has left garment workers who make clothes for some of the world’s biggest brands facing “in work poverty” and unable to meet basic needs, according to campaigners.

Factories across Sri Lanka make clothes for brands including Next, Marks & Spencer, Asda, Sainsburys, Nike, Victoria’s Secret, Levi’s, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren and Gap.

The crisis means that already low paid garment workers are now struggling to afford regular meals, medical care and rent.
